Triadigm International, Senior Consultant

Year 2000 Project, Pacific Bell Directory.  Responsible for applications inventory, including design and maintenance of an inventory database;  principal liaison with project teams, providing assistance with project plans and schedules;  researched and recommended software tools for code scanning, remediation and Oracle Forms conversion.

 

Project Management Office, Pacific Bell Directory.  Participated in the establishment of the Project Management Office, and the development and roll out of project management standards, procedures, guidelines and delivery documents.  Designed and implemented a project tracking application in Microsoft Access.  Coached and mentored several dozen project managers in project management techniques, use of the new standards, procedures, guidelines and delivery documents.

Senior Architect (12/95 – 2/97).  Responsibility for the overall design and architecture of a major software release involving 16 separate projects on diverse platforms and technologies.

 

Manager, Data Base Management Systems (2/94 - 11/95).  Responsibility for all data base management systems (PC through Mainframe), a large corporate database utilizing Oracle and DB2, migration to client/server technologies, and for providing leadership for a staff of 6 employees and 4 consultants.

 

Acting Program Manager with responsibility for four to six direct reports and 20 to 40 indirect reports working on a variety of diverse application development projects. Also served as the Project Manager for two projects:  Sundries Inventory and Project Accounting.

 

Manager of Integrated Data Delivery (Data Base Administration) on an interim basis (6 months) with 10 direct reports (6 employees, 4 contractors).  Database Administrator for multiple large DB2 and Oracle databases.

 

Release Architect for LABS Releases 2 and 4.  Responsibilities included coordinating the activities of the development project teams and support staff, negotiating post-staging design changes, conducting a weekly Technical Forum meeting with the developers, participating in problem isolation and resolution, and assisting the Release Manager as needed.

 

Project leader in LeviLink systems responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the Model Stock Management (MSM) system with a staff of 4.  Completed numerous new enhancements and converted the system to VS COBOL II and Endevor.  Also provided technical support to other LeviLink projects and served as the Telon and CICS trainer for the IR Department.

 

Designer and project leader of MSM system (an online retail inventory control, analysis and replenishment order system).  System consisted of 100 online CICS/COBOL programs with 10 batch COBOL programs.  The entire system was designed and developed using technology new to LS&CO. (Telon and DB2), and installed in 8 months using a staff ranging from 3 to 6. Staff members had no prior Telon or DB2 experience.  Personally wrote about 25% of the programs.

 

Designer of a PC based order entry system in compiler BASIC.  Managed a project team of 8 developers, none of whom had previous BASIC or PC experience.  This system operated as a standalone order entry system with burst transmission of completed orders to the mainframe for final processing.  This system cut the cost of processing orders by more than 90%.

 

Managed a maintenance project for a personal computer based retail inventory tracking system (RIMS).

 

Senior Requirements Manager (8/82 - 1/84), managed various projects in the requirements and design alternatives phases of development.  This included evaluations of vendor software, systems development procedures and alternative technical strategies.

 

Programmer/Analyst (12/79 - 8/82), provided systems designs and produced programs for major financial systems and subsystems using COBOL and IMS DB/DC.

Maryland Casualty Company, Senior Programmer/Analyst

Maintained IMS DB/DC system on an IBM 3031 under OS/MFT.  Designed and implemented IMS applications:  data base design, screen design, control block generations, program design, coding and testing.

 

Designed and implemented a policy writing system on IBM 5110 micro-computers using BASIC.  Also, designed, coded and implemented an interface system on the mainframe using COBOL, IMS/DC, and specialized mainframe hardware to read and write IBM 5510 diskettes.  Trained user personnel in system operation.
